THREADBEAT DAD
STORY
THREADBEAT DAD, an upcoming dark comedy short film.
Ken, a hospice custodian, is estranged from his family and becomes overwhelmed by the possibility of an undignified death. After an otherworldly encounter with an immortal old-Hollywood persona, Ken goes to bed in a suit every night in case he should die in his sleep and grows increasingly fashionable.
He unintentionally finds himself rocketed into ludicrous fame, discovering new ways to live and present himself to the world until he comes to face his deepest desire for connection. In the end, Ken takes his first difficult, small steps towards taking care of himself, acknowledging his faults, and communicating healthily.

STATUS, DEADLINE, & PREMIERE
This project has been a long time coming - I wrote the first draft back in 2016 while thinking about my relationship with my father. After he passed away in 2023, I wasn’t sure if I could still make this film, but over time, I felt that I should.
We filmed in January 2025 with our truly astounding cast and crew. They worked tirelessly, poured themselves into the project, and moved me to tears again and again.
We are currently in the later half of our edit with our deadline coming up very soon!
I became the Atlanta Film Society’s Filmmaker-in-Residence in late 2023. The residency is set to culminate with Threadbeat Dad premiering at the ATLANTA FILM FESTIVAL on MAY 4, 2025 if we can finish it in time!
